“Rule or Ruin” – The SWP gift to Politics and Unions

Now people may have gathered by now that I’m not that much of a fan of the ultra left Cult SPEW (aka as the “Socialist Party of England and Wales”). But I think that this missive here on the “Evil Ones” (aka the “Socialist Workers Party or SWP”) is pretty spot on.

Of course it is simply sour grapes and hypocrisy by SPEW since they would act in exactly the same bullying and oppressive way as the SWP if they were the largest UK Trot Party. Such is the nature of the beast.

Funny enough due to substained SWP electoral failure, splits and internal witch hunting, SPEW may soon actually become the new Trot maestro in UK politics! Mind you this means that they will still always be fully paid up members of the lost deposit brigade.

Hat tip thingy to Mac Uaid (who I believe use to be a fellow Newham Labour Party member?).

Check out the comments on this post for great “Life of Brian” meaningless infighting.

I do love it when they slag each other off as being “degenerate”.

Another classic John!! It's great to see you expose these people.

Their sectarian bickering is hilarious. You can literally split a credit card between these people.

The one thing they all have in common, regardless of what 'group' they belong to, is that they are nasty, sectarian, untrustworthy and generally unpleasant to deal with!

Anyone with any experience of them will find that they simply use anything and anybody they can in order to achieve 'the Revolution' they think they are leading.

The fact is that all aspects of the far-left are the most undemocratic (despite preaching that they are the bastions of democracy) bunch going.

To watch them tear into each other provides great entertainment, but there is a serious aspect of all this, and that being their wrecking mentality to anything that the Labour Movement has going for it.

For anyone dissilusioned with mainstream Politics at the moment I urge you not to join any of these looney factions.

There is only One Party that has ever done the working class any good, despite all it's faults (and it has plenty), and that is Labour!!!

Keep up the good work John, and keep bogging about the ultra's. It will likely do a lot of activists accross the movement a lot of good who may be unaware of the issues or having the unfortunate experience of meeting these extremeists for the first time.

Keep the flag flying for the centre-left.

Liam MacUaid, eh? I don't think that was his name back then, was it? I can't quite remember, but ask Alan Griffiths, I'm sure he will.

If only John was the centre left. I guess that when the Labour Party loses the next election comprehensively he will blame the ultra left. Its a sad fact for UNISON members that the labour party has lost their support because of their support for privatisation and their utter failure to redress the social inbalances. The labour party was once the party of labour - for working people -it is certainly not that anymore.

John needs to read his own posts - they are the most sectarian of any i read on any blog even including those of curious groups published by various sectarian and ultra left factions.

Labour has needed no support from any of us in destroying its own support and roots. I was proud once to be a CLP chair. Today I cannot bring myself to vote for them looking for any alternative to their left. The tragedy for us in the trade union movement , including unison, is that millions of pounds are channelled into the labour party keeping it afloat while its government attacks our members. Time to wake up John !

Hi Anon 17:54
I don’t think that the Labour Party will lose the next election. Things are very difficult but it is the economy that will decide the next election not MP expenses.

The Labour Party “Ultra Left” has not this time damaged its electoral chances (although it has in the past) the real problem is that our true enemies the Tories have moved back into the centre and made themselves appear to be a credible alternative. Yes, we need more policies that appeal to our core voters but the union vote alone will never - repeat - never be enough to form a government.

All the UL idiots do is make it harder for those who want more open debates and transparency in the Party.

I note that you appear to be slobbering at the thought of Tory rule. Shame on you. I remember similar stupid comments in 1979. “Oh it would be good for the Party to lose” ...“ One term out of government will help us reflect and reform” etc What happened? 18 years of Tory rule! Public sector pensions will be gone, Pension credit for our old folk will be history, minimum wage will wither and become voluntary, security of tenure will be ended and public housing, health services and welfare benefits will be slashed and burned.

UNISON is desperately trying to change things in order to maximise the Party chances of winning. However, I am really sure that all the unions will (IMO) rally around the Party at the next election as doing nothing at that stage about the prospect of Tory rule is simply suicidal. Turkeys don’t vote for Christmas.

Look – if you are one of the disillusioned Labour Party activists who believe in Parliamentary democracy and the rule of law yet think that that Government has not been “left” enough and needs to more left of centre to succeed. Then fair enough – please get active again in the Party to argue for change.

If you are one of the Ultra left trot entryists who are deluded to think that the Party is the vehicle to revolution then good riddance to bad rubbish. Go and play toy town politics with the rest of histories losers and cultists.

You are not wanted.

Absolutely John. Anyone not believing in the Parliamentary road to Socialism should be expelled from the Labour Party in my view.

But I suppose that would make me a 'witch-hunter' or a 'Stalinist'!?

However, thankfully we do not live in an anarchist society and rules are rules.

Amazingly enough there is still a number of these Marxist groups still active in the Party i.e. Socialist Appeal etc.

Really, they have no place within the Labour Party, but I suppose they are so small and ineffectual that they are just ignored.

By the way anon 17:54. John is the centre-left! he is loyal, trustworthy, and most of all a good person who is doing his best in difficult circumstances to improve the working conditions of his members.

He also does not stitch-up his comrades and stab them in the back like the Ultra-Left do to each other on a regular basis.

I know whose side I'm on! Do you?

Cheers Mr Centreleft

Hi Anon 07.51

yes, Labour should win next year. It depends on the state of the economy and how people feel at the time.

The Tories have had too much a good run lately and will fall down to earth.
