Councillors can't dance

These pictures are from the recent "Stratford & West Ham Focus".  I did of course enjoy the clenched fist salutes celebrating the award of a "Green Park" flag for the venue Stratford Park.

However, the photograhic evidence about the Jive dancing does seem particularly damning.

Should I have put in an accident/incident report (AIR) about the resulting stiff neck?

Still - a good time was had by all!

Fourth Anniversary of Sputnik Association in East London

The organisers of this group performed Russian dances at the Stratford and West Ham festival last month.

They hold a Russian cultural event each October to celebrate the lunch of the first ever spaceship "Sputnik".  This is an important day still in Russia.

This year it is being held in Shoreditch, East London.

The Russian Community in London is far more settled and organised than I thought.  In Newham there are at least two Russian language and culture classes each Saturday.

Everyone is welcome to this free community event.  Check out their website for further details.

Stratford & West Ham Festival 2010

Sunday's community event in Stratford Park was I thought a great success.  Local residents from all parts of Stratford and West Ham ward came together to enjoy the festival.  Lots of great music, dancing, exhibitions, workshops and stalls for young and old.

It was also fun!

I proved conclusively that Councillors cannot dance (and suffered when I woke up with a stiff neck this morning – probably from taking part in the “Swing - line dance” or was it the finale mass “knees up”?).
