"Retired voters gave the Conservative their Majority in 2019"

This is a fascinating analysis in NewStatesman. Of course, why so many retired voters tend to support the Tories is a key Labour issue. We cannot just "blame" pensioners for voting the wrong way. There is still massive pensioner poverty (2 million pensioners in 2019).

Ironically, by introducing pension credits under Blair and Brown, Labour was responsible for reducing pensioner poverty.

So what are the real reasons and more importantly, what can we do about it? Many of these retired Tory voters will have been Labour supporters when they were at work.
