Check out UNISON Guidance on this important subject for so many workers. Working from home/hybrid working is probably the biggest change, I have ever experienced in my time in employment. There is lots of positive things for workers and employers but also many negatives.
Reducing the need for long commutes, to and from work; therefore seeing your young children in the morning and before they go to bed, as well as potentially being more productive and focused is a positive. However, feeling alone and isolated, being unable to have a proper work life balance and switch off, as well as not having a home suitable to work, in is a negative.
I am aware of managers who actively discourage their employees from working in an office since working from home suits them, as well as managers who want their team to be in the same physical office as them, 9-5, every day of the working week regardless of any circumstances.
UNISON guidance, is as usual, sensible and pragmatic, aiming always to reach a consensus but making it clear, that if the employer does not share that approach, there will be consequences.
