God moves in mysterious ways: Craig joins Kippers

Great post by Forest Gate blogger Martin Warne about the former leader of the Christian Peoples Alliance, Alan Craig, who has joined the far right UKIP.

As Martin points out in his 2010 General election manifesto amongst the many "bonkers" and "unpleasant" things he said about gays and Muslims Craig also pledged to:-

"Strangers into citizens
We would tackle discrimination and embrace the talents of asylum seekers, as many successful asylum applicants are highly trained and dedicated individuals. It makes no sense to leave them on the scrapheap, unable to use their professional skills to provide for themselves, their families, or contribute to the British economy.
[Asylum] applicants will be treated as if they were British citizens with full access to state support and the right to work.
We will tackle the problem of illegal immigration by an amnesty that brings irregular workers into mainstream society, paying taxes.

A time of jubilee for the world
Aid will be given in grants and not loans and not tied to poor countries opening up their markets to powerful multinationals from rich countries.
We want the unpayable debts of the world’s poorest countries to be cancelled in full without strings attached.

I wonder how this will go down with his new mates in UKIP down the boozer on a Saturday night?

“Christian” Councillor refuses to swear on Bible over assault on Police

Newham in the news again. The "Christian People Alliance" (CPA), a bigoted right wing fundamentalist (and so-called) “Christian” Political Party, has 3 elected borough councillors in the Canning Town South Ward of West Ham CLP. One of its Councillors, Simeon Ademolake (left), was convicted last week of assaulting two Police officers and fined £1000 in total for these offences. Apparently this was in connection with a visit by bailiffs over unpaid parking tickets. See my previous post on this thoughtless thug and serial Parking ticket offender. The judge last week made it clear that he thought Ademolake was lying (at best) during his evidence.

Despite this, he has not resigned from the Council and is appealing against his sentence. Now, normally if someone was appealing I would be careful about saying anything until the appeal is heard. However, I was amazed to hear that Ademolake (and interestingly the CPA leader Alan Craig) refused to give sworn evidence at his trial on the bible, despite being so-called “Christian” politicians? His wife did. I have searched the CPA websites for some sort of explanation but there is nothing.

What is going on? What hypocrisy? Why hasn’t the Alan Craig, the leader of the CPA kicked Ademolake out of his Party? Why does Craig not give swear on the bible when giving evidence at court? Something stinks. The CPA are surely the mirror image of the "Respect” Islamist fundamentalist bigots in Newham and Tower Hamlets.

Lyn Brown MP - Alfresco in Canning Town South (& CPA Bigots)

Yesterday I went to help out at Lyn’s latest constituency development event which was held in the brand new Keizan Primary School, Elkington Road E13 (aka as “Tea or coffee mornings”).

The meeting is in Canning Town South ward, which is the only ward in Newham held by the extremist right wing fundamentalist party, the “Christian People Alliance” (CPL).

Ironically the only opposition parties to Labour in Newham are on the one hand the extremist “Shari Socialists” of so-called “Respect” in Green Street West and the fundamentalist Christian bigots in the CPL. Two sides of the same coin as far as I am concerned.

Unfortunately (or perhaps not) the first part of the meeting had to be held outside the school since the caretaker had gone to the wrong school to open up and had the wrong keys. (PFI School – no comment). For the first 30 minutes or so, Lyn and local councillors, Clive Furness and Paul Schafer held open air surgeries outside the schools.

BTW - One of the CPA Canning Town South Councillors, Simon Ademolake, has been charged with assault on Police following a dispute between him and court bailiffs over unpaid parking tickets. He has apparently denied all the allegations.

I have no knowledge whatsoever about whether Ademolake is guilty or not about assaulting anyone. However I note that he won a civil court case recently over a parking ticket which a Warden was unable to put on his vehicle because he had driven off. A few years ago I represented a UNISON Parking attendant who was nearly killed by a motorist driving off at high speed to avoid having a ticket placed on his windscreen. If you have committed an offence does it really matter if a "ticket" is placed on the vehicle or not? Doesn’t Ademolake realise (or care) that every year Parking Wardens are seriously injured (and no doubt someone will one day will be killed) by people driving off in order to stop a ticket being physically put on their car? Guess not.
